Planted in Purpose Podcast
Planted in Purpose is a faith-forward podcast where I sit down with guests—and sometimes just the Lord—to talk through the real, the refining, and the redeemed. From military life and motherhood to personal growth and calling, each episode is biblically rooted and full of encouragement. You’ll also find The Garden Bench, a quiet corner of short, devotional-style reflections to help you pause, exhale, and meet God in the middle of your story.

I had the absolute honor of sitting down with Mary Lane Montoya—a powerhouse military spouse, mama to one, digital marketing expert, seasoned entrepreneur, and the visionary behind The OCONUS Project.
Mary opens up about how a chaotic PCS, unexpected employment hurdles, and the daily juggle of motherhood became the very soil where God planted her purpose—and how The OCONUS Project grew from that sacred space. This episode is raw, honest, and full of faith. If you’re in a season of transition or quietly asking God, “What now?”—this one’s going to speak to you.

This episode has been burning on my heart, and I’m so grateful to finally share it with you.
We’re diving into how a woman’s words can shape, heal, or harm—in our marriages, our friendships, our parenting, and even the way we speak to ourselves behind closed doors. We’re opening the Word, confronting some hard truths, and breaking down how we can stop repeating the same harmful cycles.
Stick around ‘til the end— I’ll be sharing three practical steps to start shifting your speech and I’ll close us out with prayer, so you don’t just walk away inspired, but equipped.
I’d love to hear from you:
What’s something powerful a woman once spoke into your life—whether it built you up or broke you down? Let’s talk about it.

My husband, Terry, and I finally got a chance to sit down and share our story—our why behind military life, what it’s been like navigating faith and family through transition and service, and what legacy really means when you’re leading both on the battlefield and in the home. Terry is an IT Specialist in the U.S. Army, a graduate of the University of Maryland Global Campus with a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems, and a proud father to our five beautiful girls.
In this episode, he brings the heart of a leader, the mind of a strategist, and the wisdom of a husband and father who’s learned to lead with purpose through it all. We talk about his decision to serve, how our marriage has evolved through the years, and what it looks like to support one another while holding on to our calling.
There’s also a little advice in there—from a husband, a soldier, and a man of faith—to the military spouse who’s just trying to find her footing. Trust me…you’re going to want to stay until the end.
Did anything surprise you about our journey? And from the husband’s perspective—what did you find the most powerful, encouraging, or real? We can’t wait to hear what you think!

This first episode is straight from the heart. I’m sharing my why—the journey behind this podcast, the doors God opened through platforms like CNN, Military Families Magazine, and United on the Rok, and how those opportunities stirred something deeper in me: the need to tell my story fully, honestly, and in my own voice.
I’m beyond grateful for the honors I’ve received—and now, I’m walking in obedience by creating a space of my own to celebrate those wins, reflect on the lessons, and pour into others.
This podcast is for every resilient woman navigating motherhood, military life, ministry, and all the sacred spaces in between. We’re talking real faith, real growth, and real purpose—rooted in truth and blooming in grace.
